Police Station Slapping Case : Pradyot begs forgiveness to escape Court Punishment

AGARTALA, Sep 6 (TIWN): New State Congress President Pradyot Deb Barma sought forgiveness in Court for slapping a youth ahead of Lok Sabha Election inside Khowai Police Station on April 18, 2019, against which police took sue moto case.

On Thursday, before the Khowai Court Pradyot Deb Barma accepted the guilt before the judge and the judge also released him, a Bengali daily newspaper ‘Aajkal’ reported.

On April 18,,2019 ahead of Lok Sabha Election, Pradyot Deb Barma slapped a youth inside  police station after his sister Pragya Deb Barman, who was the candidate for East Tripura constituency was verbally attacked allegedly by IPFT supporters. Angry, tensed Pradyot Deb Barma rushed to the Police station and could not control himself seeing the accused who attacked his sister and slapped him on spot inside police station.

After the incident, immediately BJP Law Minister Ratanlal Nath calling press meet revealed the police station’s footage before media asking, whether anybody can take law in hand like this or not ? Ratanlal Nath also called Pradyot Deb Barma as “Anti-Tribal”.

Former terrorist organization ATTF chief Ranjit Debbarma was also present with Prdayot Manikya on April 18.

On yesterday after appearing in the court, Pradyot Deb Barma said, “I will not lie. If anyother political leader was with me, then s/he must had denied, but I accept my guilt. Being a brother on that day, I could not control myself. Whatever punishment will be given to be I will accept that”.

After hearing Pradyot Deb Barma's mercy appeal, judge released him without punishment.
