AGARTALA, Sep 4 (TIWN): Local Bengali newspapers have reported that Tripura’s Royal scion Pradyot Deb Barman who is also the State Congress President has served legal notices to over 200 Bengali families to vacate their lands saying these lands belong to the Royal family. Those lands are in Agartala and at the outskirts of Agartala.

The families are now taking shelter of laws and replied to the lawyer of Pradyot Deb Barman stating clearly their lands are legally occupied. One 80 years aged man has also shown certified copy from King Kritit Bikram Manikya while buying the land. Many more are going to file case against the notice from the Royal family head.

This move of the Congress State President has hit the trust of public as what will be the future of a section of people if Congress occupies power it has triggered doubts.

Also, it was Tripura Govt which renovated all residences of the Royal family with guarantee of 100 years base including Ujjayanta Palace.

However, as it is legal matter so the facts nothing can be said before court takes the ultimate decision.

Pradyot Deb Barman was also absent in Congress’s nomination submission process on yesterday for the by-election but was seen with regional party leaders who demand NRC from 1949 in Tripura.

Tripura has 70% population of Bengalis which is different from other Northeast states. In this regard politically Central Congress is being mislead by such community based politics which can cause only losses for Congress’s future in Tripura.
