AGARTALA, Sep 4 (TIWN): Electricity bills will be increased heavily in Tripura according to the new bill passed in the Assembly.
In protest of imposing high levies opposition has walked out of the Assembly.
CM and Deputy CM (also the power minister) however said that the levy to be imposed on the 80% outgoing electricity to Nepal and Bangladesh or other Indian states whereas opposition parties claimed it is affecting directly, indirectly the state consumers.
Opposition demanded that the bill must be discussed in the Select Committee but this demand was not entertained.
Protesting Govt’s decision, the opposition walked out of the Assembly.
