AGARTALA, October 26 (TIWN): The diesel crisis continues to be a major cause for concern for ordinary people of the state. Whatever the government does, the diesel crisis seems unsolvable.
The acute diesel crisis created chaos among the state people. Following the diesel crisis in Tripura, movement of vehicles has been collapsed partially.

Specially the vehicles move to out of the state are facing difficulties at such situation. Taking the advantage of shortage of supply and non-monitoring of market, a litter of diesel is being sold at Rs 100-150 in the black market in Agartala.

"Due to this diesel shortage, all my cars are getting stopped. My cars were taken on finance. Business is affected as drivers are unable to take the cars out due to lack of diesel,” said Rabi Das. He is an owner of a travel agency and supplies vehicles for tour purpose.

However, for the past few days his vehicles have to wait for at least two hours every morning to get diesel. The actual reason for the dry-out remains largely speculative. Especially, as the petrol pump owner have chosen to remain quiet. This acute shortage has forced petrol pumps to ration the fuel. The city requires a total of 30,000 liters of diesel per day, said a highly place source in the Food Department.

According to a press release issued by Food and Civil Supplies Department, diesel crisis was not supposed hit the state. But the acute diesel crisis gripped the state for more than 13 days. ‘Diesel not available’ boards were found hanging in many of the diesel pumps in the capital city- Agartala too. Hundred of vehicles including long queues of consumers were seen in front of the diesel pumps.

It is to be mentioned here that, earlier, a acute fuel crisis was witnessed by the state people as fuel that comes to the state from Assam has been disrupted due to the continuous blockade of National Highway (NH) 44 in Meghalaya till September 28, last which hit the stock of petrol in the state just before the beginning of Durga puja festival.
