AGARTALA, July 22 (TIWN): Increasing crimes, murders have been reported in Tripura in the recent data given by Tripura Police with 16 murders in June 2019. Today couple at the age of 50 Jatindra Das and his wife Sikha Das were found hanging in own house at Champamura followed by a family issue which led his son to be in lockup on yesterday, however, few suspected family member’s involvement in this crime. It has been suspected as murder as blood clots were found in their bodies and the daughter in law told media that her husband was in very angry mood regarding family issues. Police said without post mortem nothing can be said, but blood spots are visible in their bodies. There are average 10 murders in Tripura per month which has increased now in May, June. In 2019 January 6, February 10, March 14, April 10, May 11, June 16.In 2018, 67 murders took place whereas in 2019 only in 6 months 67 murders reported. At least 255 rioting cases were filed in police stations across Tripura in 2018 a drastically hike than the previous years.However, the mainstream media limelight could not put a light in that major issue.

Police report has revealed the rioting incidents had increased in Tripura since 2017 (pre-Assembly-election season). It's the time when BJP as opposition came in alliance with IPFT, the party which demanded a separate land for Tripura’s indigenous people, organized a road blockade in Baramura for long 11 days on National Highway.

Various murders took place including journalist Santanu Bhoumik.  The rioting cases numbers which were lodged are : Year 2014 : 94 cases, Year 2015 : 76 cases, Year 2016: 78 cases : Year 2017 : 124 cases, Year 2018 : 255 cases and in 2019 from January to Apriltotal 57 cases were registered.
