AGARTALA, July 22 (TIWN): Queen Pineapples have been imported to Dubai, UAE today from Tripura’s Kumarghat.This is the second big festival organized by Tripura Govt promote Queen Pineapple productions.

Chief Minister Biplab Deb has flagged off the export programme in the presence of Agriculture Minister Pranajit Singha Roy and other MLAs.

Queen pineapple is Tripura's 'State Fruit', has been promoted by the BJP Govt.

Addressing on the occasion CM BIplab Deb said, “India has been agriculture based economic country and the advanced countries outside India are also recorded with agricultural growth. As  result, those countries have achieved massive economic growth and also became independent country on economy”.

“Since 1947 various missions were launched for agriculture development and farmers’ growth but practically no Govt did much for the farmers till Narendra Modi became Prime Minister of India. His Swachh Bharat doesn’t mean only to clean areas but also means to clean the administration from corruption”, said CM.

“Tripura produces over 1 lakh metric ton Queen Pineapples, but the previous Govt didn’t utilize it. Now the farmers are selling pineapples at Rs. 15 minimum after they knew the Govt rate at Rs. 20. Within one year this development has come”, he added.

“Pineapple production has increased 25% followed by 1 year’s attempt of the Govt”.

CM also said once water-ways are opened in Tripura then the transport cost will be decreased and promised to take the production at 3 lakhs metric ton which is now 1 lakh metric ton.

1700 hector lands have been covered with pineapples but the previous Govt could do nothing due to its negligence and uncountable expenditures, said Deb.
