AGARTALA, July 18 (TIWN): While delivering speech on the occasion of a programme on 'Symposium on Traffic Management & Capacity Building’, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb has slammed all sections of the administration connected with traffic system and clubs for increasing accidents in his state.

Expressing frustration about the paralyzed situation of the dept, Biplab Deb raised question, why after one year this dept is unable to install zebra-crossing on roads ? He asked, without anyone’s help and cooperation how the Govt can function ?

CM lays importance on installation of good quality CCTV cameras and to monitor those cameras from control room to spot the reckless drivers and also to put hefty amounts of charges against those drivers.

Rejecting a Govt official’s claim about national highway patrolling CM said, “I never saw any such patrolling”.

Taking a dig at clubs, he asked whereas clubs are only for Durga Puja and Kali puja ? They must take initiatives to check the reckless drivers. How many clubs even attempted to push “Nesh Mukt Tripura” Abhiyan ?

“Just like when houses are constructed we make planning for our whole life, so, why can’t a Govt take initiative to look at the future ?  When Agartala-Sabroom national highway construction started few years back comparing with that time, vehicles numbers are double now. A State Govt needs to do lot of planning for future. PM Modi in NITI Aayog meeting projected Save Water as his first priority. No water crisis in India except few states right now, but PM Modi is talking about water-crisis in 2019 because he is keeping a target for upcoming years when water crisis will become a major issue”, he added.

“Today in Sabroom-Agartala way so many accidents are happening because traffic is not in controlled. If preparations were taken from the beginning, the situations would not be like this”, CM said.

He also drew Tripura Police’s attention to control  vehicle accidents.
