TIWN July 14, 2019
AGARTALA, July 14 (TIWN): The northeastern states of India i.e. Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura have been experiencing reduced rainfall activity since the last two days. However, during the last 24 hours, weather activities increased slightly in parts of Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland, Skymetweather has reported.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday, Tezpur in Assam recorded 60 mm of rain, followed by Lumding 47 mm, Aizwal 34 mm, Mazbat 34 mm, Kailashahar 33 mm, Agartala 23 mm, Lengpui 14 mm, Pet Jorhat 12 mm, Golaghat 7 mm, North Lakhimpur 5 mm, Shillong 4 mm and Silchar 3 mm.
Now a cyclonic circulation which is over Northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining East central Bay of Bengal will move towards Northeast India, leading to increase in rainfall activities over the region. We expect heavy rains at many places over Northeast India for the next one week.
Weather Alert for Nagaland: Light to moderate spells of rain and thunder shower with isolated heavy and strong gusty wind will occur over Dimapur, Kiphire, Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Peren, Phek, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto districts of Nagaland during next 24 hours
Even though, currently all the northeastern states are rain deficient, these upcoming rains will certainly improve the rain deficiency of Northeast India to some extent. However, seeing the average rainfall of the region, we can say that significant improvement won’t be possible.
