AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, July 9 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister’s field visits to witness Agartala’s various municipal problems failed to wake up CPI-M ruled AMC (Agartala Municipal Corporation). Mayor Prafullajit Sinha led AMC’s years of inaction turned Agartala markets into dumpster as work culture hit rock bottom. Visibly disgruntled Biplab Deb on Monday said either to suspend these erring officials or to arrest if any of these Municipal workers waste time in protests.Amid various problems, at least Chief Minister Biplab Deb is trying hard to restore the lost work-culture in Govt offices and yesterday’s visit in various spots of Agartala city proves that point which was rare during Manik Sarkar’s time. However, how far fast development would bring after his visit it’s to be seen as Agartala city’s various parts still left under garbage due to decade-long lethargic attitude of the Govt employees and AMC councilors in city management. AMC Mayor Prafullajit Sinha ward at the Shibnagar area left deplorable and polluted smells stinks people. A difference is seen in the attitude of the Govt where a Chief Minister himself visiting at the ground level, however, the previous CM Manik Sarkar was never seen doing such field visits. On Monday Biplab Deb along with Govt officials visited Banamalipur area and expressed surprises about the unhygenic situations across the city.

Witnessing the pathetic condition of Agartala city due to garbage and dirts everywhere, Deb has slammed AMC councilors and also via media asked councilors to cooperate the Govt.

At the same time, Deb also ordered from tomorrow Agartala city needs  to be cleaned by 10. 30 AM and if they can’t do that Govt will take action, afterall they are paid for works.

Addressing media, Deb said, “AMC councilors are too much reluctant to do their jobs. It will not be tolerated. Next time, if negligence is found, I am going to suspend them and if after suspension, they go for strike, I will put them in jail”.

Biplab Deb also mentioned, if any problem the councilors face during works, they are allowed to communicate with the higher authorities, but works has to be done, adding, “I can’t allow my people to suffer in this dirty environment”.

AMC and Govt has exchanged various blames to each-other but the attitude inside the offices yet to develop. The lower level contractual staffs of AMC are still doing better in compare to the office sitting officials.

Biplab Deb said, at any cost Agartala city can not be pilled up under garbage.
