AGARTALA, July 6 (TIWN): Opposition CPI-M on Saturday has blamed BJP Govt for its decision to hand-over mid-day-meal projects to an NGO under the name of ISKCON. CPI-M State General Secretary Gautam Das stated that in the name of ISKCON led NGO, BJP Govt is handingover mid-day-meal project to RSS. Even though it’s under code of ISKCON, but it’s actually an RSS wing may cause massive job losses in Tripura schools as many people are dependent upon mod-day-meal based jobs in Tripura schools. The CPI-M leader through a press meet said, “This project is given to NGO which is actually RSS wing under cover of ISKCON and due to this step, many mid-day-meal employees will lose jobs. Earlier, Govt handedover 20 Govt schools to ISKCON, which also triggered nationwide controversy under the concept of “Privatization of Govt schools”.Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb while addressing in ISKCON organized Ratha Yatra festival July 4 has said, ISKCON will take charge calling ISKCON as “Anna Data”. He mentioned egg distribution will be stopped if ISKCON takes the charge, but equal protein added food to be given, which also became a part of the criticism.

Earlier, after Govt was changed many mid-day-meal workers lost their jobs and were replaced with new people. Now, with this new move, Tripura Govt may cause more job-losses which has erupted tension.

After CM’s announcement no statement from Govt came officially.

However, the mid-day meals will not be implemented for all schools at the first phase as for about 25,000 students of West Tripura District of Tripura will be under the new project. The Akshaya Patra Foundation (TAPF), a Bengaluru-based non-profit organisation.
