AGARTALA, Oct 21 (TIWN): The Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Kailasahar- Birjit Sinha today submitted a letter to the Superintended of Police (SP), Unokoti following the multi-crore scam in CMO office under NHM at Unokoti district. According to the MLA, over Rs 35 crore under National Health Mission (NHM) has been misappropriated at CMO office in Unokoti district. Following this scam, Birjit lodged an FIR at the Kailasahar police station on October 17, against the involved persons into this scam. In reference, the CMO, Unokoti district has sought 7 days to take necessary step against the involved persons in financial irregularities under NRHM.
According to Birjit Sinha, the audit report and complaint clearly disclose the offence is punishable under section 409 of IPC which is cognizable offence and the Officer-In-Charge (OC) of Kailasahar police station was legally bound to treat the same FIR and to investigate the same. But the OC refused to treat the same as FIR by registering it as GD entry. Following the issue, Birjit today submitted a letter to the SP Unokoti seeking to treat the said complaint as FIR.
While addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan, Birjit said if the concerned department denies to lodging FIR in this regard, we will move for massive protest and legal assistance. He alleged that a section of officials from various departments are misappropriating the public funds under the support of ruling party. But the chief minister maintains silence after knowing everything, he said. Birjit further asserted that over Rs 32, 25, 86, 526 crore of NHM fund has been misappropriated in the CMO office at Unokoti district. Without sanction, they are misappropriating the public funds frequently, said Birjit.
Surprisingly, District Accounts Officer- Nirmal Chandra Das, who is under suspension was spotted working in office, said Birjit. Now the question is that how can a suspended official work in office? Who is helping scamsters behind the scene? Why the state government is trying to hide them to be highlighted instead of taking necessary steps?
