AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, July 5 (TIWN): In an initial reaction to the Union Budget 2019, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb has congratulated Govt of India (GoI) led by PM Modi and also greeted Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for a visionary budget declaration.

Addressing media, Deb said, “Till date, nobody could think about pension system for unorganized sectors, small scale business. But this budget talks about that”.

“Within 2022 everyone in India will have Pakka Ghar and within 2024 all will have drinking water facility. Infrastructure development has given much special focus. Electronic system including E-Rickshaw, E-Vehicle have brought under tax relaxation. It will also help to reduce pollution in the environment”

“PM Modi’s target is to take GDP above 8% and I hope via this budget PM Modi will fulfill his New India dream”, said CM.

 Deb has also mentioned how the budget focused on Women empowerment and rural development, Infrastructure and roadway development. He also said, vocational education and technical training have been given preference. 

Noteworthy, to strengthen financial health of public sector banks (PSBs), Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Friday said the government will pump in Rs 70,000 crore to boost their lending capacity. Unveiling the Union Budget 2019-20, she said non-performing assets of PSBs have come down by Rs 1 lakh crore.

For every rupee in the government coffer, 68 paise will come from direct and indirect taxes while states' share of taxes and duties is the single-largest expense head accounting for 23 per cent of total spending, budget documents showed.

The demand for housing units worth up to Rs 45 lakh will rise on account of additional Rs 1.5 lakh tax deduction provided in the Budget on interest paid on housing loans sanctioned this fiscal to first-time homebuyers, property developers and consultants on Friday said, while hailing proposals to promote rental housing and improve liquidity of NBFCs.
