AGARTALA, June 29 (TIWN): 2018 Pre Assembly Election vision document released by then Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley alongside Himanta Bishwa, Ashok Sinha now turned a pure JUMLA as BJP Govt failed to fulfill MGNREGA minimum wage of Rs 340. Even though BJP State Govt promised to fulfil Vision Document promises stepwise but after increasing only Rs. 15 in MGNREGA daily wage, public outbursts in negative reaction, rather than appreciation. Controversy erupted as BJP Govt promised to increase all wages at minimum Rs. 340. There was another controversy regarding down of MGNREGA mandays, which was however denied by the RD Dept. The wage rate under MGNREGA scheme from Rs 177 to Rs 192 per day, in a media address, RD Minister Jishnu Dev Barman said. Dev Barman also told reporters that during the Left Front government's tenure in 2017-2018 financial years altogether 28.46 lakh man-days were created, but in the last fiscal (2018-2019) it increased to 34.67 lakh.

Rural Development department, Soumya Gupta said, “In the first four months of current financial year altogether 56.02 lakh man-days were created and in the current financial year the government has fixed a target of more than three crore man-days, Secretary of state”.She said the Union government released Rs 121.96 crore this year for MGNREGA wages, out of which Rs 104.52 crore has been spent.
