After Lok Sabha Election result setbacks, Prakash Karat arrives in Tripura : CPI-M’s state committee meeting begins

AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, Jan 3 (TIWN): After Lok Sabha Election result’s setbacks, where the Left Parties lost both of its seats in Tripura alongwith national level drown for the communists, CPI-M said that Lok Sabha election result will not affect Assembly Polls. Today Prakash Karat has arrived in the state and CPI-M’s state committee meeting has been started at the Melarmath Party office. Prakash Karat is one of the Indian communist politicians. He was the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India from 2005 to 2015. Once the meeting is over, CPI-M will tell the media regarding the decision taken in the meeting. The ongoing situations in the post poll violence affected state would be discussed. Opposition leader, former Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Sarkar also shared dais with Prakash Karat.Tripura has two Lok Sabha constituencies and BJP won both the seats.

As per the schedule announced by the Election Commission of India, the polling for the Tripura East constituency happened on April 11 during the first phase of elections and polling for the Tripura West constituency took place on April 18 when the country went in for the second phase of elections. In 2014, both these seats were won by Communist party of India. Due to the alleged violence and irregularities during polling on April 18 in Tripura West, re-polling was announced on April 23. Also, regular polling in Tripura East was deferred from April 18 to April 23. 

But CPI-M lost miserably in the Election whereas BJP wins and pushing CPI-M in 3rd position, Congress came in second position.

However, politburo Manik Sarkar said, the Lok Sabha Election results will not at all lay any impact on the Assembly Election.
