Agartala, Oct 17: To ensure the social schemes to all the people, state government has been planning to introduce a total of 8 Nirbhoya centres in the 8 districts including the posting of at least one Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) in the block and Panchayat level, said the Tripura Chief Minister- Manik Sarkar in a review meeting at Pragna Bhavan, here today. The review meeting was organized by the Social Welfare and Social Education Department.
During the meeting, Sarkar reviewed the overall progress of various development projects in the state. He informed, altogether 23 social schemes are existing in the state. Out of them, only 3 schemes are being introduced by the Central government. He urged to the concerned department to reach the facilities of these schemes to the beneficiaries.
Further he stated that, the concerned department including employees of every level should work seriously for the overall development of children and mothers. The state government has sent a proposal to the central government to increase the number of CDPO. If Centre denies the proposal, the state government would take decision, said Manik.
The Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education Department- Bijita Nath, Chief Secretary- G.K. Rao, Secretary of Social Welfare and Social Education Department- M. Nagaraju and Secretary of Finance Department- Ashutosh Jindal including many other dignitaries attended the review meeting.
The Minister and other officers of concern department reviewed the work of Anganwadi Centres, Social Pension Scheme, different programme initiatives for the development women, different initiatives for the development of physically challenged persons and vaccination.
