AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, May 26 (TIWN): Opposition leader Manik Sarkar’s long silence over massive terror by BJP goons already raised questions inside CPI-M party. Reacting over the ongoing violent attacks on the opposition party supporters, 2 deaths and house to house attacks by BJP youth activists, CPI-M leaders have slammed BJP accusing the party for damaging a whole generation. Total 176 attacks took place in last 3 days on CPI-M families, 88 shops either burnt or vandalized, atleast 16 vehicles were burnt-CPI-M has called the phase is ‘Dangerous’ and matter of ‘Deep Concern’. Addressing media, CPI-M leader Bijan Dhar said, “CPI-M leaders are threatened to give lakhs of fines and BJP has threatened if that much of money is not given, they will be murdered or their houses will be burnt. We pay tribute to the victims of the poll violence and specially those who were killed in ruling party’s internal clash.
It’s shocking that during counting, CPI-M leaders are beaten in the presence of police inside the counting hall, out the counting hall and next in houses. In total 60 counting agents were attacked.
In Santir Bazar and Jolaibari, when they were returning home they were severely injured by BJP’s pelting.
The driver in injured condition was trying to drive to save the passengers but BJP goons from behind reached the spot and injured at least 26 persons including a journalist”.
“Our party offices are randomly broken. Using bulldozer they are breaking the party offices. The BJP hooligans are crossing police order even”, said Bijan Dhar.
“The party is always fascist and now after winning the fascists’ real face is exposing. We demand the violence should be stopped immediately. Those who were behind the attacks should be arrested immediately”, said Bijan Dhar.
He also said that Police in many places are not lodging FIRs. CPI-M also has demanded compensation for the victims.
“The most important is to control the communal violence chances. But intentionally an intrigue has been played to break the communal harmony. We urge people to control such chances and to maintain the peace”, said Bijan Dhar.
CPI-M State General Secretary Gautam Das said, “So many incidents are going on but the ruling party is totally silent. Such trend was never seen earlier. BJP goons are becoming overpowered beyond police. It’s also affected the daily workers and state’s economic condition. People’s livelihoods are under threat”.
Gautam Das also cited example how an Anganwadi center’s employee’s house was attacked and the bed was set on fire.
