AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, May 26 (TIWN): Tripura Congress President Pradyot Manikya has donated Rs. 10 lakhs of relief fund for the poll violence victims of Congress Party. He also asked Congress leaders to do same for those workers who worked on ground for the Congress Party. In a message, Pradyot Manikya said, “In the aftermath of violence in tripura and so much of loss of property i am personally pledging Rs 10,000,00 (Rupees Ten Lakhs )to the relief fund for the Congress workers who have suffered serious injuries or other damages in terms of property . I am appealing that other former presidents and senior leaders do the same . Many times we simply talk but never actually do anything for the congress worker who has worked for us on the ground during elections . Let me remind everyone Actions speaks louder than words . Congress is also preparing for legal move to manage Govt compensation for the victims.
Standing with own party activists with all efforts has been considered as a “masterstroke” by the young Congress President.
Congress has started preparation to move in Supreme Court demanding compensation for each victim, urging to contact with Congress leaders. Congress State President Pradyot Manikya said, in 1993 Advocate Pijush Biswas also filed a similar case on behalf of victims in the High Court and it's judgement has come. Now, the Govt is bound to compensate the victims.
On Saturday addressing media at the Congress Bhawan, Congress State President said, “During and after the Election, it is the duty of the Election Commission and State Govt to ensure the safety of the people and maintain the law and order, but Election Commission has miserably failed to control the law and order as well as State Govt too. Thus, it’s our request that all the victims should file FIRs and submit to us”.
Tripura post poll violence has hit the peace since the result of Lok Sabha Election was declared on Thursday. The GB hospital’s space is turning smaller because of larger section of people are admitted there after beaten by ruling party cadres, who were victimized in post poll violence.
Over hundreds of people are hospitalized in critical situation. Thousands of property losses are being reported across the state.
