NEW DELHI / AGARTALA, May 23 (TIWN): Congress President Pradyot Manikya has alleged massive Post Poll violence in Tripura, started even before the result was finally declared.
Pradyot Manikya said, “I have never seen such post poll violence that I am witnessing now in Tripura. Our workers are being beaten and properties destroyed and family members being threatened”.
“In a democracy some win and some lose but to allow criminals and goons to run riot in this day and age is a sad state of affairs . I have spoken to the Chief Minister and the CEO and well as the Police to ensure safety of all our workers, while they have assured me all help I dont see the administration react as promptly as they should in this situation”, said Pradyot Manikya.
“This post poll violence has become a culture in West Bengal and Tripura and it is indeed sad that we cannot protect our own people in our state just because they vote for a party which does not win in the elections. I am appealing to all to please maintain peace but more so I am requesting the state administration to do their job. Incidents like these hurt the image of our state and the people as well”, he added.
