Tripura Election Rigging : ECI calls Congress leaders for meeting after Congress files petition in SC

AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, May 16 (TIWN): Election Commission of India (ECI) has called the Congress leaders’ for a meeting today.

The meeting was called after Congress filed a case demanding total re-poll in the Supreme Court of India.

Congress top leader advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Jairam Ramesh and State Congress President Pradyot Manikya will visit ECI to hold the meeting.

On the other side, CPI-M has also filed a case in the High Court demanding re-poll in total constituency of West Tripura on yesterday.

The party also demand CCTV footages from the Election Commission via Supreme Court which “should be” handedover to public. In the press meet, Congress MP candidate Subal Bhowmik said, Election Commission could not create a fearless environment led only around 72% voting percentage, whereas in by-polls also at least 85% voting rates are counted.

Subal Bhowmik also alleged, in all 14 booths at Dhanpur, BJP casted fake votes at Dhanpur in 59 number booth voters were removed from the rows.

A re-poll was conducted in Tripura on Sunday followed by the massive rigging, booth capturing. However, as only based on booths’ footage the re-poll action was taken, but the booths which were rigged outside including beating of voters, lakhs of voters could not cast votes, so Congress has decided to file case in Supreme Court.
