Police raid in Bimal's house a make-show drama ? A section of CPI(M) 'Think Tank' want CBI probe in 17 Crore MGNREGA scam

AGARTALA, October 14 (TIWN): After 25 days since incumbent BDO Bishalgarh Block lodged FIR against former BDO Bimal Chakraborty, police raided Bimal's house in Milan Chakra area on Monday. Indeed, even within CPI(M)s top leadership, questions have been raised about the entire 'raid' conducted by police in home of 'Specially Favoured' BDO Bimal Chakraborty. There is no denying of the fact that from the very beginning Chief Minister was not at all interested in taking actions against his most ' favoured BDO'. Bimal Chakraborty is such a close figure to CM and earlier Chief Secretary that earlier Chief Secretary S.K.Panda's book "one plus one equals to eleven" was translated into Bengali by BDO Bimal Chakraborty.

According g to this leader," In the recently concluded state committee meeting of CPI(M) , a section of Melarmath Think Tank too demanded that CBI probe should be ordered in the Rs 17 crore MGNREGA scam. As expected Chief Minister Manik Sarkar denied such probability. But what is more interesting outcome of this meeting is that inspite of a landslides victory in 2013 Assembly Election, many leaders expressed their doubt as to whether the party will be able retain its power in 2018 as scams, rapes, tortures against women, Dadagiri of a section of leaders and acute crisis in basic amenities in recent times have risen at an alarming rate. Moreover, leaders have also expressed their concern that MGNREGA scam is now a hot topic in the state purely due to non-functioning of police as the prime accused is Chief Minister's close." The leader also added that this was probably the first time that state leaders expressed their doubts over the attitude of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in the mast 10 years especially after his seemingly week attitude shown towards Bimal Chakraborty.

Eyeing the resentment among the party members Manik Sarkar is learnt to have instructed police to make  this ' fabricated raid' in Bimal's house. It is now an open  secret inside Melarmath that Chief Minister snatched 'Finance Ministry' from Badal Chowdhury within 10 days since the Special Internal Audit Report revealing the Rs 17 crore MGNREGA scam in Bishlagarh R D Block, and awarded it to Bhanu Lal Saha, whose role too is under question mark in this MGNREGA scam. Some leaders were also learnt to have raised the question that in Rs 5 crore RMSA scam some of the accused are already behind the bars and even some top officials are under suspension , while in Rs 17 crore MGNREGA scam police did not even interrogate Bimal Chakraborty simply due to his close relation with Chief Minister.

According to TIWN sources Bimal's elder brother Prof Shyamal Chakraborty and DYFI state Secretary Amal Chakraborty met Chief Minister Manik Sarkar soon after the IAR submitted to CMO and told him that Bimal was made a victim under instruction from the then Finance Minister Badal Chowdhury. And the sources add that immediately after this meeting Manik Sarkar himself took the files of Internal Audit Report ( IAR) and assured Bimal's brothers that he would look into the matter. And within 7 days of that ' crucial meeting' Cabinet was reshuffled and Finance Ministry was taken away from Basal Chowdhury. At that time publication of TRIPURAINFOWAY.com's news about the Cabinet's reshuffle held in May when Finance Ministry was snatched away from Badal Chowdhury and awarded to Bhanu Lal Saha, has put even Chief Minister in to back foot and has indeed made him to produce the blue print of this fabricated raid, said a top level Melarmath leader.

Now the situation is such that baring a few loyals of Manik Sarkar, majority of CPI(M) state committee leaders want that the case should be handed over to CBI to probe. Under such situation Chief Minister instructed police to make this ' Show Piece' of raid. As expected police found nothing in his house. Even Bimal Chakraborty is still “untraced” – how Bimal can be traced unless his godfather wants it ?.

A Melarmath leader told TIWN," Bimal is having a good time under the secured shelter in a top level party leader. Police too know this special shelter. But who will dare to arrest Bimal? Obviously all know that God Father will protect Bimal Chakraborty and family. There is serious amount of question mark within CPI(M) party itself as far as ' Mr White' image of Manik Sarkar is concerned."
