Governor stress upon the proper fencing of Indo-Bangla border : Criticizes waste of money, lack of developments

AGARTALA, October 14 (TIWN): Governor P.B. Achariya stressed for the need of construction of proper fencing of Indo-Bangla border in a press conference held at Raj Bhawan. While discussing the issue of border fencing Mr. Achariya told that the construction of fencing in border is not up to the mark. So far money was invested and man power was utilized, proper fencing is not done yet. Also Governor appreciated
building of borderhaats (Border Markers) as an effort to increase people to people contacts and develop friendship between India and Bangladesh.“During my visit to the border near by the Kamalasagar Kalibari temple, I observed that the quality of fencing is so poor that anyone can cut it and infiltrate at any time", the Governor further informed.

Dismaying over the poor quality, P.B.Achariya told that anyone can come inside and go outside without any valid personal identity. So, the work should match with the investment, Governor expressed this while discussing his disfavor on such a negligible work.

On the other hand while speaking about the construction of border haats. Mr. Achariya expressed that it is a wonderful effort to make friendly atmosphere between the two neighboring countries. The idea of building of border haat will not only help to make a friendly atmosphere between the two neighboring countries but also it will help to upgrade the bilateral relation between India and Bangladesh, he expressed.

He further told that such a developing step will enhance import-export, people to people relation. It is to be mentioned here, that yesterday Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya visited proposed border ‘haat’ in Kamalasagar at Indo-Bangla border accompanied by DM and Collector Sephaijala District, Prashant Goyal, The governor was apprised about progress of work and functioning of border ‘haat’.

The first border ‘haat’ (market) of Tripura, along Indo-Bangladesh boundary at Srinagar in South Tripura district is likely to be operational on first week of November.  Besides, Srinagar, three more border haats are soon to be operational Kamalasagar of West Tripura, Kamalpur in Dhalai district and Ragna in North Tripura. Tripura government has been persuading for four more border haats in the state to boost the border economy and curve the illegal trade between two countries.
