7 journalists attacked in last 1 week : CPI-M torches on Candle-Marcher Journalists’ silence

AGARTALA, April 21 (TIWN): As 7 journalists were attacked in last one week including yesterday’s Kailashahar Press Club President, CPI-M has now taken a dig at the BJP dominated Agartala Press Club for “No Condemnation”.

On Friday night, a senior journalist, President of Kailashahar Press Club was attacked by BJP hooligans by entering his house. In last 1 week at least 7 journalists were attacked in Tripura.

“Attack on journalist is never accepted. It should not happen but most surprisingly there is no action against any miscreant yet who attacked the journalists”, said Gautam Das.

On Friday, at least 3 journalists were attacked at Dharmanagar while covering BJP led attack on Presiding Officer.

 After Jhutan Shil of Channel Din Raat, multiple journalists of Dharmanagar, now one more journalist was attacked at Kailashahar.

 This time, Kailashahar Press Club President Pralayendu Chowdhury was attacked at his own home.

At night around 10.30 pm, miscreants entered his home and vandalized whole house. They entered by breaking the front door of his house.

His press was warned to be burnt and warning was given that just like Santanu Bhoumik his condition will be like this if he continues govt criticism.

In another attack, at Dharmanagar Uttam Debnath, Rupak Debnath were injured while covering a clash incident.
