Violation of Election codes by BJP MP candidates : Congress demands cancellation of nominations

AGARTALA, April 20 (TIWN): Gross violation of model code of conduct was alleged by State Congress in Tripura against BJP MP candidates 1) Pratima Bhowmik, 2) Rebati Tripura.With such demands, Congress is going to the Election Commission demanding cancellation of both the candidates nominations. Specially, BJP MP candidate Pratima Bhowmik who gave murder threats to Additional SP (Urban) Kiran Kumar and delivered various odd speeches during election campaigning and also launched violence, Congress is submitting separate complaints against here.Moreover, for election expenditure of both the candidates which in case of Pratima Bhowmik crossed 9 lakhs and in case of Tripura crossed 27 lakhs are already under EC scanner, Congress has added a fresh complaint on that issue against both of them.Under Pratima Bhowmik’s brother Biswajit Bhowik, a known mafia and also drug smuggler, all booths were captured across Kakrabon and Dhanpur.

 In this condition, Congress has demanded action of the Election Commission against them.Pratima Bhowmik before the massive poll-rigging on 11th April, openly threatened oppositions’ “Jamanat Jabt” and appoint Chowkidar in each booth, which was successfully done by BJP on 11th April, even though BJP claimed that no violence was held on that day.

Congress raised question whereas the Election Commission itself has issued notice to the MP candidates, why their nominations will not be cancelled ?

After proper evidence only, the Commission has issued notice against them.

In the last Assembly Election also, there were gross violation of expenditure against BJP.
