AGARTALA, April 17 (TIWN): Tripura Congress on Tuesday after Election Commission of India’s announcement of deferring poll date of 18th April’s election to 23rd April, said that it will not change party’s impression on the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura Sriram Taranikanti who earlier even after knowing everything claimed about peaceful election and today when Election Commission of India checked all footage, evidences of election rigging, deferred East Tripura Election, now he (Taranikanti) accepting the poll was heavily violated, manipulated on 11th April. Election Commission of India also has removed Additional DGP Rajiv Singh from election dept related works. Congress has welcomed the decision of Election Commission of India for deferring East Tripura constituency poll.

Congress State President Pradyot Manikya sounded confident that increase in the security personnel’s numbers will ensure public safety and it should secure voters rights.He said, Congress is happy that after viewing evidences submitted by Congress, the Commission has taken this decision. Manikya also mentioned, he is nobody to comment on the serious issue what is right and wrong. In a separate press meet, Pradyot Manikya also slammed BJP MP candidate Pratima Bhowmik for threatening IPS Officer Kiran Kumar for murdering him “on spot”. Congress West Tripura MP candidate Subal Bhowmik said, on 11th April around a lakh of people could not cast their votes. It never happened across India’s history since independence that such a massive number of voters could not cast votes and only 1 or 2 people gave votes on them by force. Bhowmik demanded, re-polling in rigged centres at the earliest in West Tripura. Congress leader Advocate Pijush Biswas however mentioned, party is not happy with the CEO who earlier claimed about peaceful election and now accepted that election was rigged. Congress held the latenight press conference after the announcement, whereas for West Tripura constituency Congress will go to Supreme Court in demand of repolling. Addressing press meet, CEO Sriram Taranikanti said that what happened on 11th April, we don’t to repeat it again. As a result for preparation and more security forces arrangements this election has been deferred. East Tripura constituency poll has been deferred from 18th April to 23rd April due to huge violence across the state.From West Tripura election, massive rigging has been launched by ruling BJP which has been continuing for East Tripura also. BJP also issues notices infront of houses saying if anyone comes to cast vote their condition will be like a “Beheaded Chicken”. With that notice cut chickens’ heads were also pinned on the main gates of the voters. “The poll for 2 Tripura East ( ST) pc on 18th April has been deferred to 23rd April, 2019”, confirmed the Election Commission.
