Protest at Delhi against Tripura, Bengali vote rigging : Re-poll for West Tripura, Peaceful environment for East Tripura in demand

NEW DELHI / AGARTALA, April 16 (TIWN): Massive protest was organized at Delhi today led by CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury in demand of repolling in Tripura for 464 booths in Tripura and 500 booth in Bengal. At the same time, peaceful election was demanding in the upcoming polls including East Tripura constituency on 18th April. From Tripura West MP candidate cum sitting MP Sankar Prasad Dutta also participated in that agitation. In Tripura a 3 hours long agitation was staged at the Orient Chowmuhani at Agartala with the same demand. On the other side, Congress is moving to Supreme Court in demand of repolling in West Tripura. The protest movement started as even after having viral proves, evidences where State Tripura was reeling massive election rigging, lakhs of voters could not cast their votes, polling agents were removed from booths, beaten, but the CEO Sriram Taranikanti could not send report for repolling in demanded booths.CPI-M also had demanded removal of DGP A K Sukla and CEO Sriram Taranikanti from their respective posts.

On April 11, over hundreds of people were injured, hospitalized. In front of police, security forces, electoral officers opposition polling agents were removed from the booths, but State Election Commissioner Sriram Taranikanti so far stayed muted and police under DGP A K Shukla has proven nothing but a puppet of BJP. Since yesterday the violence started across towns and villages today in front of presiding officers the booths were captured, polling agents were beaten before CCTV camera.

Before the election day, BJP General Secretary cum BJP MP candidate, Pratima Bhowmik repeatedly said, “My BJP supporters will become booth’s Chowkidars and Jamanat-Jabd of the opposition will be made sure”. Prior to the election Chief Minister Biplab Deb also in open public gathering declared that he will teach a lesson to the opposition in this election. Even after telling the Election Commission again and again, CEO Sriram Taranikanti has failed to control the law and order and allowed the so called “Chowkidars” to capture booths.

BJP’s poll rigging is still under troll of netizens. Voting began on Thursday across 91 Lok Sabha constituencies spread over 20 states and Union Territories as the first phase of the mega seven-phase electoral exercise kicked off including Tripura, but the election turned into a massive farce led by corrupt electoral officers.
