AGARTALA, April 14 (TIWN): Channel Din-Raat Journalist Jhutan Shil was severely beaten by BJP hooligans on yesterday night.

The incident took place on yesterday night when Jhutan was returning home at Bdaharghat, Matri Palli.

He was threatened to life, beaten and warned for any criticizing news against ruling BJP.

Slamming the incident, CPI-M leader Bijan Dhar raised question, today where are those journalists who became popular  by doing various candle-marches ?

“Today journalists are attacked, doctors, govt employees, voters all are under attack. Journalists are mostly attacked day-night under the terrorizing era of BJP”, said Dhar.

“In our time, with any such instance huge protests were held, newspaper’s first page was dedicated for CPI-M’s criticism and the democratic background it was right, but where are those journalists today ?”, asked Bijan Dhar.

Dhar mentioned a particular section of BJP sold media persons who were working under BJP’s nexus and after the election senior journalists were by force removed from Agartala Press Club and they became self-declared members of the club.

Their protest for journalists started when back in 2017 two journalists were killed in Tripura, but since BJP came in power, the investigation of those murder cases left sluggish and also allegedly they shutdown various Govt criticizing media houses to please CM Biplab Deb.
