AGARTALA, April 13 (TIWN): With a major development for Tripura, after the opposition parties have submitted all videos, footages of poll-rigging and booth capturing during West Tripura constituency election to the Central Election Commission with demands of removing CEO Sriram Taranikanti, DGP A K Sukla, Add Secretary to CM Millind Ramteke, calling a press conference the CEO slammed the hooligans for booth capturing during West Tripura constituency’s poll. CPI-M and Congress both parties have complained to Election Commission at Delhi and also footages were handedover in pen-drive to the Election Commission. Calling a press conference in the evening, CEO Sriram Taranikanti said, people used C-Vigil at less percentage and if complaints were filed then the situation would not be like that. The CEO said today in favour of common men and oppositions’ allegation, even though he is accused of withdrawing all security forces on the peak hours of Election since April 10.
Addressing media, Taranikanti said, “Tripura’s electoral roll is considered as good and across the country Tripura has a good name for voting percentage. All political parties and voters jointly conduct such peaceful election. Many complaints have come to us".
"Many are saying, they were not allowed to cast votes and many said, they were prevented to come to the polling stations. We have to focus on the mass rigging”, said the CEO.
Taranikanti asked the voters to use C-Vigil app and immediately send video, footages to the complaint form in the East Tripura election. He said, as C-Vigil was not used properly during West Tripura poll and thus it happened in West Tripura constituency’s polling hours.
Taranikanti further asked people, police, election commission officials to jointly hold the elections.
Being asked by media, whether the CEO recommended “re-poll” for Tripura, he said, “Ofcourse, I had to send that recommendation, but I said, it will take time as we have plenty of time for this re-polling. If election is held, then we need proper security arrangements”.
Total 1679 polling stations are in Tripura whereas around 800 complaints were given to Commission for being captured.
The action came after all evidences and complaints were sent to the Election Commission at Delhi.
A nexus have been complained to the Election Commission between Biplab Deb Govt and West Tripura constituency tainted candidate Pratima Bhowmik and DGP and CEO. Yesterday complaint came against Millind Ramteke, Add Secretary to CM.
In this situation, re-poll has become urgent and necessary to save “democracy”.
