Agartala, October 13 (TIWN): The Tripura State Committee of SC, ST, OBC and Minority Development Council in Tripura today submitted a deputation to the Secretary, Tripura Board of Waqf and also placed a letter seeking 6-point charter of demands, here today.
In the latter, Tripura State Committee alleged that after conducting every state-level survey, the number of Waqf listed lands are decreasing continuously. Many of the waqf’s lands are being ousted by the name of clubs. A section of bureaucrats are allegedly help to illegally capture the lands of people belongs to Muslim Community.
Some of the 200-300 years old grave’s land and mosque’s land are still remained unlisted by the Tripura Board of Waqf.
According to the letter, the state committee is being frustrated by role Waqf board in Tripura. The Waqf board did not carry its responsibilities accordingly in the past days.
The Tripura State Committee of SC, ST, OBC and Minority Development Council including Manipuri Development Committee, Tripura-Jharkhand Society Development Samity, TTLRCC and OBC Development Samity today staged the deputation seeking 6-point charter of demands.
The state committee’s demands are; legal action should be taken against the persons who captured the Waqf’s land illegally, all the ousted lands should be evicted immediately, massive campaign for the awareness of Waqf Act including many others.
