Agartala, October 12 (TIWN): Councilors of Agartala Municipal Corporation (INC) on Sunday submited a deputation to the East Agartala Women P.S. They raised various demands against the safety of women in the state as well as immediate action against the culprits connected with the Chandrapur Tata Kalibari incident.

 Today a delegation led by Councilor Basana Debnath, Milon Das, Ratna Dutta, Himani Debbarma, Jayanta Chakraborty and Tushar Kanti Bhattacharya  visited the East Agartala Women P.S and submitted a deputation to the Officer-In-Charge Ela Debnath. They demanded that justice must be prevailed and action must be taken against the assailants irrespective whoever they may be, action against the inaction towards justice, it is to be mentioned that, till now Police Department was unsuccessful to apprehend the culprits, ensure safety of women in the future, stop favouritism towards the ruling party and equality of justice for all.

On preliminary deputation report states that” There is a loss of verbal power of the People of Tripura at the nature of atrocious behavior to Smt. Soma Majumder, whereby she was tied to a pole at Natmandir of Kalibari, Chandrapur, Agartala and severely manhandled, molested and assaulted both physically and mentally by the cadres of the ruling party. We the chosen representative of the AMC (INC) hereby condemn the atrocity from our heart and declare to be by the side of the victim for her fight for justice and ensure that the unruly behavior of who-so-ever may be must not to be endured again in the future .

On the other hand three more IPC Sections namely 354 (outrage of modesty), 394(robbery) and 109(abetment) in the FIR has been lodged by the victim Soma Majumder. The Investigation Officer has already processed to add all these sections. It is to be taken into notice that all the sections are non-bailable and according to the local sources, court would hear the case on Monday. It is to be said that with the adding of all these sections, now the accused will be caught in trouble.

Meanwhile victim’s mother met DSP Central Rajendra Dutta and demanded rejection of anticipatory bill of all accused persons, arrest of all culprits and justice for the victim.

However, Chief Minister finally called for the enquiry report of the women assultation case in Chandrapur Kalibari area. In the meantime the victim marched towards the Governor to submit the grievances on Saturday connection; Tripura Pradesh Mahila Congress visited the Director General of Police on this humiliation issue by seeking proper investigation, yesterday. According to the locals adjoining to the victim’s house, police had sought time for 12 hours to take necessary action against the accused persons but failed to do so. As a result, the locals also encircled the local police station yesterday. On the other hand the victim, Soma Majumder, alleged that a section of doctors of Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) hospital work for the ruling government as the doctor did not mention about any physical assault in the prescription. The chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women- Purnima Roy, president of Tripura Pradesh Mahila Congress- Kalyani Roy, Member of Parliament (MP) - Jharna Das Baidya including many others expressed condemn about the incident. It is to be mentioned here, all the 18 FIR named persons have surrendered before the court on October 7.
