AGARTALA, October 10 (TIWN): “The culprits and the Police were having tea in a same table and the offenders were assured of bail, once the case is produced before courtâ€, alleged Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) General Secretary (GS) Dr. Ashok Sinha, while acting sharply on the inhuman incident of Chandrapur where a woman was beaten mercilessly, tying her hands, by few women.
Strongly condemning the barbaric torture on the woman concerned Dr. Sinha further said that the people of the state who take on the streets of the capital for Gaza issue, should also think about this and do the needful. In a press meet held at Congress Bhawan, this morning PCC leaders expressed their concern over the ongoing crimes against the women and the severity of the misdeeds, incidentally, invoking human rights violation. “PCC is doing all whether it is involving Police or going to DG (Police) but the People in Power are doing nothing substantial”, commented PCC GS, while talking to TIWN, post the press meet.
Relating to the same, the women wing of the PCC (Mohila Congress) will draw the attention of the National Commission for Women (NCW) and soon it will write a letter to the NCW, seeking the commission’s intervention. The accused ones and some of the localites were reported to put pressure on the victim so to withdraw the case. “We and our CLP have made It clear that if she withdraws the case PCC would not stand along her side but if she fights against the issue, we shall extend all necessary assistances”, asserted PCC’s media cell head Dr.Ashok Sinha.
