Agartala, October 9 (TIWN): Tripura State Government had issued a notification regarding transfer of teachers within some days. However, such type of notification was earlier issued too. But still no proper action has been taken. The question now going to arise that what is the impact of new notification? Will Government succeed to this by going over the head of Tripura Government Employees association (TGEA?)

Government on Wednesday issued a notification regarding transfer of teachers. On this issue Minister Tapan Chakraborty informed that” Those teachers having tenure of 15-20 years in urban area are now transferred to rural areas. And those of rural areas to urban.” List is being prepared and the Director of Education Department is directed to do the needful.

Mr. Chakraborty further mentioned that, The School Education Department has come to know that hundreds of teachers, mostly in the Agartala area, are entrenched in their schools for even two decades.Reluctance of a section of teachers to serve inn hills and in villages has largely affected the education system. The number of dropouts in rural areas, mainly on the hills, is alarming and many schools are functioning with just a couple of teachers. There were genuine reasons when the extremist problem when was at its height and teachers were subjected to extortion and even kidnappings. Now the problem no more poses a real threat and teachers need not worry about postings in these areas.   While a large number of teachers continue with their jobs in urban areas and earn a lot through private tuitions, their counterparts are languishing in rural pockets for years together.

It is to be mentioned here that earlier in an effort at achieving excellence in school education and ending disparity among teaching staff, Tripura plans mass transfer of teachers. But still now no proper steps had been taken yet. It also comes to hear that under the era of Director Sahadeb Das, the file suddenly disappeared before reaching the Ministers office. The mystery behind this still deepens. The alarming question now, will the history repeat ? Will the Government will score upper hand over TGEA.?

On the other hand TGEA always up against of transfer of teachers, particularly of their choicable ones. Their primary point is that frequent transfer of teachers caused dismay in various government run schools. Education system in the schools is deteriorating day by day and students have been deprived of quality education.
