Agartala, October 9 (TIWN):The Election Comission on Wednesday scheduled all party meeting on the special summary revision of photo-electoral rolls of the sixty assembly constituencies of the State. Chief Election Officer Asutosh Jindal, Additional Chief Election Commissioner, and representatives from CPIM, Congress, TMC, and CPI headed over the meeting. But no representatives from BJP were seen.
CEO, Mr Jindal told that, the schedule as received from the Election Commission of India are- draft publication of rolls by October 15, period for filing of Claims and Objections from Oct 15 to Nov 10 next. Reading of relevant part/section of photo Electoral Rolls in GramSabha/Local Bodies and RWA meeting and verification of names will be held on Oct 17 and Oct 30, next. Special campaign dates with Booth Level Agents of Political parties for receiving Claims and Objections would be conducted on Oct 19 and Nov 02 while disposal of Claims and Objections would be held on November 20.Updating of database, merging of photographs, updating the control tables, preparation and printing supplementary list would be completed by December 20 while the final publication of Electoral Rolls will be conducted on January 05, 2015- he further added.
Among the political parties representatives from CPIM, Samar Adda and Haripada Das, demanded the accurate furnishing of special summary revision of photo-electoral rolls. They complaint that in the recently concluded assembly polls, in the eighth and ninth constituency assembly, the voter list prepared are not accurate. Genuine voters get deprived of thefurnishing of name. The repeatation should not be done and voter list should be in a fresh manner. Any person found to be guilty should be punished- They further added.
On the other hand, Congress party led by Asish Saha and Balai Das, raised question on the fairness of CEO. They demanded that State Election Commission is not performing their duty well and CEO does not play a neutral role. In this connection they presented an instance that in Sabroom, the presence of the nameof Bangladeshi voters is present. Though The State Election Commission is unable to take proper steps, after the advice of Election Commission of India, they only listed out the name. No proper steps have been taken yet against the culprits. Among other issues, the role of BLOS, military and paramilitary forces and other sensitive issues are taken under consideration. They further said that, if no proper steps taken in favour of their demands, in future massive movement will be taken by the party.
Besides these the representatives from other parties also stands out their points against the illegality of the publication of photo electoral rolls.
