AGARTALA, March 4 (TIWN): Congress President of Tripura Pradyot Manikya asked Chief Minister Biplab Deb to do apology on behalf of State Govt for calling Citizenship Amendment Bill agitators of January 8, 2019 as anti-national after police has shot 6 youths at Madhav Bari in Jirania.
Pradyot Manikya said, at first after the violence at Madhav Bari, holding a joint press conference with Minister NC Debbarma, Biplab Deb said that the agitators were anti-national and anti-social whereas now after months Govt is saying, police also did mistakes. So which one was the actual mistake ? The press conference or the now what the Govt is saying.
Police on January 8, 2019 only shot youths but also attempted to kill them in the ambulance. Various videos were made viral after the incident.
“Govt must apologize for its mistake”, he said, adding demand of action against the higher authority of District Police and not only to suspend lower ranked police personnel.
