AGARTALA, Feb 19 (TIWN): “Physics should be taught more in practical than dictation of formulas inside classroom”, said Minister Sudip Roy Barman to Physics teachers during a workshop at Pragna Bhawan.

Addressing on the occasion of “Workshop on Innovative and Experiments on Physics for Classroom Teaching”, Tripura Science and Technology Minister Sudip Roy Barman said, “Science, specially Physics the way you have been imparting Education to the students, it has been almost a routine exercise and contemporary in the classroom”.

“When with black-boards and chalks, the students write down the formulas and theories and then they start memorizing them as it is without understanding the depth of those theories just to write in the exam so that they can score well. The ultimate aim is to secure a job, but in this way, we are not nurturing the hidden talents of the student. As a result, a huge number of students are not taking interest in science.

“These four-days-long workshop’s aim is to develop the system of teaching method where students can learn outside of the classroom in better way”, the Minister added.

“Many time it has been seen that the same question with which they are familiar if any twist is being given in it in the question-paper, they are unable to understand the same question. So, I believe if the students are taught through demonstration outside the classes, they would remember it for whole life”, he said.
