Club members stage road blockade

Agartala, Oct 7 (TIWN): The members of Deshbandhu Club and other locals of West Bhuvanban area Tuesday organized road blockade on Airport road seeking immediate re-arrest of an accused person, who injured another club member by throwing stone-chip during the idol immersion process on Sunday.

According to the puja committee secretary, Deshbandhu Club- Pranab Chandra Ghosh, a member of the said club- Pradyut Jyoti Datta demanded some amount to the secretary to enjoy the idol immersion on Sunday. But the secretary refused to offer any amount to Pradyut.

As a result, intoxicated Pradyut become aggressive on Pranab and used abusive language. After the immersion procedure, while the club members were returning to their home, with an attempt to hurt Pranab, Pradyut thrown a stone-chip but unfortunately the stone-chip injured another club member Rajib Sarkar critically, which caused huge damaged on his head, he said. Of late, Rajib was taken to the GBP hospital immediately on Sunday evening. Later on Tuesday morning he was shifted to Kolkata as he was injured critically, said Pranab.

However, on behalf of the puja committee, a case was registered at the Ramnagar Out Post. Accordingly the police had arrested the accused Rajib on Sunday night but he was released from the Court on bail order on Monday.  

Keeping this point in mind, the club members and other locals staged road blockade and encircled Ramnagar Out Post seeking immediate re-arrest of the accused. They have also demanded for proper investigation into the case. On being asked about the investigation, police informed investigation is in progress into this case.
