MGNREGA mandays drastic fall caused massive poverty in rural, urban bodies in Tripura : Unemployment problem spikes up double in last 11 months

AGARTALA, Feb 17 (TIWN): Tripura’s economy is in miserable state, massive poverty, starvation due to slash of mandays from various projects and MGNREGA works. At the same time slashing of social pensions and unemployment have gripped the state. At the same time slashing of social pensions and unemployment have gripped the state. The BJP led State Govt has failed to manage fund from central yet, whereas one by one ongoing recruitment under Govt Dept in Tripura has been cancelled. Noteworthy, from 94% MGNREGA mandays, Tripura is now suffering from acute crisis of work, affecting the economy overall the state including hitting the business. Tripura’s unemployment percentage is standing 30.9% doubling in last 11 months in Tripura. Also BJP far from fulfilling Vision Document’s promise of “50000 Govt jobs will be given in the first one year”.Earlier, Tripura continuously was in top position in MGNREGA works, but this year following the election session and minimum mandays per month since four months, the MGNREGA performance report has slipped Tripura’s name from No-1 to No-27.

Tripura had topped in 2015-2016, 2016-17 by creating on an average 94.66 mandays of work for MGNREGA. The State was  followed by Mizoram, which has created 68.55 mandays of work while Sikkim had achieved the third position by creating 66.97 mandays of work.In Tripura (2016-17) Active workers and Persons provided employment were 10.73 lakhs and 8.5 lakhs respectively, during the same time period under MGNREGA.

In July 26, 2018 the national data said, MGNREGA works are facing sharp down under the BJP govt as Tripura has dropped from No-1 to No-27.

The major promise which drew 7 lakhs unemployed youths vote banks was filling up of 50,000 vacant posts within the first one year is left with less than two months. This is the major promise of BJP made in the Vision Document published by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

TPSC and Govt Depts have cancelled all the recruitments affected over 8000 people. Around 750 contractual staffs from JICA project have been dismissed and such dismissals have hit all the the departments. From AMC to Health dept many contractual employees are terminated.
