Udaipur, October 6 (TIWN): To represent the culture and historical heritage of our country India, Tripura Sundari Dance and Music Festival will be organized at Tripura Sundari Temple premises, Udaipur on 20th and 21st October 2014. Although these type of programmes are observed in the various states of our country India, it’s first time in our state Tripura. The progamme will start on 20th October and it will be continued up to 21st October. The programme will start at evening 5 PM and will be continued till night 10 PM on both the days.

According to the history of the temple of Tripura Sundari, it was constructed by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya Debbarma in 1501; there are two identical images of the same deity inside the temple. They are known as Tripura Sundari (5 feet high) and Chhotima (2 feet high) in Tripura. The idol of Maa Kali is worshiped at the temple of Tripura Sundari in the form of 'Soroshi' and it is situated in the ancient Udaipur, about 55 km from Agartala, believed to be one of the holiest Hindu shrines in this part of the country. This temple is popularly known as Matabari and it is also known as Kurma Pitha because the temple premises resembles kurma i.e. tortoise. Every year on Diwali, a famous Mela takes place near the temple which is visited by more than two lakhs pilgrims. This is one of the most popular state festivals of Tripura after Durga Puja. Not only people from every nook and corner of the state Tripura but also the people from all over India come to see and enjoy the Diwali Festival.

  Government Departments play an important role in success of the Diwali Festival in the state. This year another addition of this festival is Tripura Sundari Dance and Music Festival. It is a programme of Diwali Mela Committee 2014 and it will be organised by RUPAKALPAM. The whole programme is sponsored by Sangeet Natak Akademi and cooperated by ICA, Tripura & Tripura Tourism and Gomati District. Duranta TV will give coverage of the whole programme as a media partner of this programme.

According to schedule, the programme will be inaugurated on 20th October at 4PM. At the day of inauguration, Pandit Shreekumar Chattoapadhya (Eminent Singer of Shyama Sangeet, Kolkata), Dr, Rabindra Bharali (Vocal Singer of Tripura), Boby Chakraborty (An eminent Kuchipuri Dancer of Tripura), Anita Sharma (An artist of Sattriya of Assam) and Ruparani Das Borah (Dancer of Kathak of Assam) will be performing in the programme and also are the main attraction of the programme.

On 21st October, the second day of the programme, Tripti Wate (Singer of Vocal Song of Tripura), Arunabha and Abhijit Sharma (Artist of Sarod and Sitar of Tripura), Abhinaya Nagajythy (An eminent Kuchipuri Dancer of Delhi), Manuj Elangbam (An artist of Manipuri of Manipur), Debaldev Jana (An artist of Bharatnatyam of Kolkata) and Sarbani Nandi (An Artist of Odissi of Tripura) will be performing in the programme. All people are invited to the programme and it is hope of the organizing committee that in future these type of programmes will be organized across the country like other states in India.
