AGARTALA, Feb 13 (TIWN): Modi Govt’s divisive politics brought Northeast India to chaos as massive protests continuing against Citizenship Amendment Bill(CAB), which resulting total erosion of BJP’s voter base. Controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) to be placed in the parliament today, whereas on yesterday the house was adjourned with another issue and thus Citizenship Bill discussion didn’t start. On the other side, Northeast regional parties rushed to Delhi and inside Northeast tensions are going on. Across Northeast protest against Citizenship Amendment Bill has been continuing.Authorities in Manipur have imposed prohibitory orders in Imphal East and Imphal West until further orders in view of protests called in the state against the Citizenship Amendment Bill. The controversial bill is to be tabled in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday despite opposition from several Political Parties in the North East, including allies of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Massive protest going on against Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 in the Northeast zone, whereas in Tripura both the major communities regardless Tiprasa and Bengalis have been united against Citizenship Amendment Bill.

Political parties have organized protest where both sections of people participated. Authorities have shut down internet connectivity for five days across the Manipur.

Talks are on air that Tripura’s internet connectivity also get a break in Tripura, even though there is no communal issue in Tripura. Except BJP all the political parties have protested Citizenship Amendment Bill. 

Rajya Sabha saw repeated disruptions on Tuesday and was adjourned for the day amid sloganeering by the opposition MPs.As the House was reconvened at 2 p.m., opposition MPs from the Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party came near the Chair's podium and started shouting slogans.Two government bills were introduced by the Ministers amid the din.Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh adjourned the House for half an hour. As soon as the House met again, the opposition MPs stationed themselves near the podium and shouted slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.The Chair then adjourned the House for the day.Earlier, the Upper House was adjourned during Zero Hour. The Rajya Sabha was on Tuesday scheduled to discuss the motion of thanks on the President's address.The government may extend the Upper House sitting by a day or two to complete the legislative business which includes a discussion on the Budget and a few other bills.Across Northeast protest against Citizenship Amendment Bill has been continuing.
