AGARTALA, Feb 12 (TIWN): CPI-M MP Jitendra Chaudhury has slammed the Modi Govt during the budget-debate with various issues, pinching the Govt on hypes style of propaganda against Tripla Talak.
Jitendra Chaudhury said that for women nothing was done by the Govt and 56% budget for women was spent for ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ advertisements. Nirvaya’s project funding was slashed.
“Even though for Tin Talak issue, the Govt shed crocodile tears for the Muslim women but in Rajasthan, Madhyapradesh, Chattishgrah already people have given Talak to the BJP Govt”, he said.
On the other side, Union law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday slammed the Congress for opposing the legislation against triple Talaq saying, the party was supporting a social practice that has been banned in more than 20 Islamic countries.
Congress MP Sushmita Dev has said she stands by her statement that the Congress would scrap the triple talaq bill if it comes to power and instead go for an alternative that emerges out of discussions within the Muslim community.
