AGARTALA, Jan 7 (TIWN): Modi’s JUMLA in the name of NEDA exposed with long pending demands of the indigenous people which was instigated by BJP to win election, but never fulfilled their promises as it may hit the majority vote banks are now turning heavy upon Modi Govt ahead of Lok Sabha Election. Eventhough BJP in Tripura has warned against strike, but with a major jolt regional parties including IPFT (Tipraha) and few more have supported January 8 and January 9’s strike. All Tipara Indigenous Students Association (ATISA), IPFT (Tipraha), INPT, IPFT have supported Northeast Student Union (NESU) called 12 hours strike in Tripura too, along with whole Northeast opposing Citizenship bill. Addressing media, Pitor Debbarma, Vice President of ATISA said that Northeast is not the dumping ground of illegal migrants, but surprise that instead of implementing NRC, PM Modi has called for Citizenship Bill’s passing to turn illegal migrants as legal Indians. On the other side, CPI-M, Congress all have opposed Citizenship Bill not for the same reason as the regional parties, but the parties raised question, why Modi’s Citizenship Bill only welcoming Hindus in democratic country India?

BJP Govt however has given a strict warning to the strikers and told all employees to attend office at any means. But the ADC and rural areas office goers are suffering from security crisis situation as regional parties also have called strike.

In town areas also, vehicle service likely to be hit due to CPI-M called strike.

It’s a bad signal for BJP as already in Assam “Asom Gana Parishad” (AGP) on Monday walked out of the alliance with the ruling BJP over the latter's decision to go ahead with the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.

Here aligned IPFT also against this bill. Also there is a debate between BJP-IPFT over Lok Sabha Election’s seat sharing.

In this situation CPI-M called strike has got a boost. CITU held a massive rally at Agartala calling people to join in 2-days-long-strike.

Ten trade unions who have jointly called for the nationwide general strike are INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, AICCTU, UTUC, TUCC, LPF and SEWA. The trade unions have support of almost all major independent federations of central employees, state employees and the employees of banks, insurance, telecom, and other service sectors representing the workers and employees of all the industries and services including transport services, both in organised and unorganised sectors.

Banking services are likely to be affected on January 8-9 as a section of PSU bank employees would go on a two-day strike. The All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and Bank Employees Federation of India has informed the Indian Banks' Association (IBA) of the two-day nationwide strike on January 8-9, 2019, IDBI Bank said in a filing to the BSE.

A massive rally in support of 2 days long strike was organized by opposition CPI-M. The strike is scheduled to held on January 8 and January 9. In Tripura a massive strike observation is expected, whereas BJP Govt has opposed the strike.CPI-M raised slogan, "From tomorrow no shop will be opened".

Centering the two days long strike in Tripura, along with the nation the vehicle service likely to be hit for two days, but Govt employees are tensed as strict action has been warned against them if they skip office on that day.

However, auto, vehicle service crisis would be created as the working class is heavily angry over the Govt both at Centre and State.

The two-day strike on January 8 and 9 has been called by the central trade unions against the alleged repressive policies for workers adopted by the government. Farmers across the country under the aegis of the Left peasant wings would join the nationwide strike.
