Police Week celebrated in Tripura

AGARTALA, Jan 3 (TIWN): Like every other year the five days long police week began on Thursday at Agartala and all the subdivisions of the state.

Police week is celebrated in Tripura from January 3 to 6. To celebrate the success of State police, several programs are organized at Manoranjan Debbarma Memorial Stadium, A.D. Nagar.

To mark the occasion, parade was also organised by the Director General of Police AK Sukla and all other of Tripura police.  The program was grace by the Chief Minister Biplab Deb.

Chief Minister while addressing at the Tripura Police Week-2019 celebration after police day parade at AD Nagar police ground  said that police should focus on building up better coordination with the people.

Police should be more focused about their social responsibility. Crime against women had taken a worst turn; Police should take initiative to tackle the menace cautiously, added Deb.

However, in the week long program the first day is marked with police week parade and inauguration of inter unit sports meet. The rest of the day of the week  includes a  friendly hockey match, arts and handicrafts exhibition, 10 KM run, quiz events, seminar on police public co-operation, closing ceremony of inter unit sports meet and debate completion.

It is to be mentioned here that the Police Act of 1861 requires the police to remain committed to the political executive. The National Police Commission suggested that the police should be more concerned with protecting the interests of the people and it should remain loyal to society.

To celebrate the success of State police, several functions are organized at Manoranjan Debbarma Memorial Stadium, A.D. Nagar.
