At Belonia today around 11 am, CPI-M’s farmer wing leader Bhuban Pal and his wife were attacked when they were going somewhere from the house. As soon as they came out of their house, a group of BJP miscreants led by BJP leader Jagadish Pal attacked him in front of his wife, When his wife went to save him, she was also attacked. Bhupan Pal was taken to primary hospital as his nose was bleeding. Local CPI-M has demanded proper action against the miscreants. Belonia is right now suffering from continuous attacks and each incident is going without any action. On December 13, one Krishna Shil’s house was brutally attacked by BJP goons and they further burnt their house. In the fire their cows were killed and many cows had left injured. Each furniture and items of the house were burnt but no action was taken against the miscreants.Since 11 December, after BJP lost in 3 states massive attacks took place on the oppositions and on December 12, Chief Minister Biplab Deb had almost locked all police officials in a conference room and that whole night violence continued.

Many fabricated cases against oppositions were filed, they were arrested, but till day law and order has left unstable.

CPI-M candidate of Agartala Ward No-4 along with other CPI-M leaders, activists faced attacks by ruling BJP on Saturday. The attacked party leaders are 1) Subhashish Ganguli, 2) Bitan Das and many more. Tripura by-election is going to be conducted on December 27, which was postponed by State Election Commission allegedly under BJP led State Govt’s pressure, without informing the oppositions.

Thousands of attacks took place on the opposition led over 70% seats BJP has already won without any contest. Voicing against such ongoing attacks, CPI-M on Friday had launched this massive protest at Agartala demanding permission for rallies, campaigning and safety of the candidates during door to door campaigning.

On Friday, massive protest rally led by thousands of CPI-M supporters hit the capital city on Saturday afternoon. CPI-M’s demand was to allow the opposition to practice their democratic rights which are now under suppression of the ruling party.

In last 9 months hundreds of CPI-M, Congress party offices were bulldozed, attacked, burnt and physical attacks turned almost everyday crime. During each by-election, candidates houses were attacked on midnight, houses burnt, fabricated cases were lodged, but state police’s role remained so far unsatisfactory and working in favour of ruling party’s crimes. Many times nexus between police and party activists of BJP were alleged and suspected.

However, amid such disruptions, Tripura to undergo Municipal Poll on December 27.
