‘Water contamination spot identified, 120 persons affected in diarrhea in capital city’ : Minister Sudip Barman

AGARTALA, Dec 20 (TIWN): At least 120 persons have already affected from diarrhea due to the water contamination in Shib Nagar area, but successfully PWD (DWS) Dept has identified the area from where the contamination is taking place. Holding a press meet, PWD (DWS) Minister Sudip Barman said that the Gandhi School water tank has been identified as water contamination spot.

However, no serious health fall of anybody was reported so far and after primary health checkups

“The water which is being supplied from College Tilla Water Treatment Plant affecting in few areas with diarrhea disease. The main cause behind this disease is from water contamination which is not from the water source but in the water tank in Gandhi school zone itself and from that tank supplied areas have been affecting”, said

“But the main reason behind the contamination yet to be known but the area has been decided. Due to various ongoing drainage works, this disturbance has occurred”, he said.

“Total 120 diarrhea have been affected from that water source. From Govt side, we urge the people to boil the water well before drink. Govt has also decided that in each 15 days Bordowali water treatment plant and College Tilla Water tank plants will be checked, cleaned and the source and end points will be checked, tested”, he added.
