AGARTALA, Dec 17 (TIWN): With a major jolt, once again controversy has erupted on Tripura Police’s role in Lawyer Pradip Modok murder case and a big loophole was spotted after Chief Minister Biplab Deb visited East Agartala Women Police Station on Sunday.
Chief Minister Biplab Deb by mistake breaking protocol entered the lockup zone in the East Agartala Women Police Station along with media.
He also looked at the women inside the lockup and killed lawyer Pradip Modok’s sister Jaba Modok was sitting inside. After seeing the Chief Minister Jaba Modok started shouting, “I didn’t kill my brother. Police arrested me without my guilt”.
A Bengali daily newspaper also raised question, whether a Chief Minister or media persons can visit lockup areas in a police station, specially when it’s women police station.
Earlier, after Pradip Modok’s murder on November 29, when asked by media who killed her brother, Jaba Modok replied, “If I say, if they kill me too ???”
But when controversy started and massive criticism was going on police’s failure, suddenly after 10 days of murder sister Jaba Modok was arrested.
Also, it was suspected that professional killers had killed lawyer Pradip Modok and questions raised, how a woman can kill her elder brother who was physically fit enough and kept him in a drum so “professionally” ?
On December 8, after Jaba Modok was arrested, TIWN Editor Saumen Sarkar on the basis of police’s illegal works, arrests and harassments ongoing across states said on that background, “I hope, police arrested the correct person”.
Jaba Modok also denied to have any lawyer for her and now controversy once again erupted after her appeal before the Chief Minister.
