AGARTALA, Dec 17 (TIWN): Like every year, CPI-M will conduct celebrations on December 27 on the occasion of “Janashiksha Diwas” or “Mass Literacy Day”.

However, from Govt side nothing has been cleared yet whether to celebrate this day nor not.

BJP Govt ‘again’ in controversy in Tripura for manipulating historical days. When since 1945 ‘Mass Literacy Day’ has been celebrated in Tripura on December 27 before Tripura had joined India, was not considered by State Election Commission under Govt’s approval and the Municipal by-election was declared on December 27.

After removal of “May Day” from holiday list controversy, this is the second time that the BJP Govt is under rage of opposition for removing “Jana Shiksha Diwas”.

Before this controversy, BJP Govt came in similar controversy after it removed May Day from holiday list.

State Election Commission’s order was circulated among media which says that the upcoming Municipal Election was postponed from December 22 to December 27.

CPI-M protested as this date is known as “Janashiksha Diwas” (Mass Literacy Day).

“27th December is considered as “Mass Literacy Day” which is being observed since 1945 but this year by announcing election on this historical day, election commission has not done justification”, CPI-M State Committee member Haripada Das said.

The postponing of election has triggered resentments and doubts among opposition parties as no party knows anything about the postponing, neither any notification was given nor any all-part meeting was done.

Moreover, violating the trends the result out day of the election has been announced on December 28, without giving any gap after the voting day. The reason behind postponing of election is also unknown.
