Kailasahar, Sept 29 (TIWN): After failing to get wages ahead of Durga puja, the MGNREGA workers today staged road blockade at Tillabazar area.

Later, the officiating Block Development Officer (BDO)- Bipul Das rushed to the spot and controlled the situation by assuring to release wages to the job card holders on tomorrow.

A section of MGNREGA workers alleged that the Congress supported labourers did not receive their wages as the members of ruling government distributed the wages in absence of Panchayat Secretary and Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS).

As a result, five members of Congress and angry MGNREGA workers today staged road blockade infront of Laxmipur Panchayat under Gournagar block, here today.

After receiving the information about road blockade, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kailasahar PS- Sabir Ahamed, officiating Block Development Officer (BDO)- Bipul Das rushed to the spot immediately and assured the workers to release wages on tomorrow. After getting assurance of getting wages tomorrow, the workers have withdrawn the road blockade.
