Statewide ruling BJP led Violence continues, Election Commission, Police numb as ‘mute’ spectator

AGARTALA, Dec 5 (TIWN): Massive violence statewide continues centering the upcoming Municipal Election. After Jirania attack on Ex-Minister Manik Dey across Gomati, South District violent attacks are going on during night hours. Police’s nexus with such incidents can’t be a deniable fact as zero-action has been taken against the miscreants. CPI-M Dy Opposition leader MLA Badal Choudhury, MLA Sudhan Das along with other CPI-M leaders have visited the attacked families at Belonia, talked to the family members, condemned the attack. This is the first time since the election result, that Choudhury is meeting people as since the election, BJP created a terror of attack if any CPI-M member make visit to any house. The family members alleged that very violently the attack took place at night 10 pm with threats of withdrawal of nominations or to see deadly consequences. Badal Choudhury has assured the families that the party’s full support will be with them.At South Tripura an old woman was severely attacked on yesterday late night. The attack took place at Bhola Das’s house in Belonia. Das is the CPI-M candidate of No-5 ward of Municipality. His mother’s hand broke in that attack, whereas his daughter was also beaten and the whole house was vandalized. The attack was not only centered in South District.

Total 9 families were attacked on yesterday night at Udaipur and Belonia subdivisions.

The attack had started at around night 9 pm. At first in Udaipur Meheru  Chacha’s home was attacked who is one of the candidates for the upcoming Municipal Election. He was threatened by BJP goons to withdraw the submitted nominations.Also it was said that if within Tuesday the nomination is not given up then houses will be vandalized.

Houses of Dulal Chandra of 17-no ward, Ratna Deb, 9-no ward, Nehura Begam 19-no ward were attacked.

In Udaipur 20-no ward candidate Kanu Naha’s home was also attacked but due to local people protested, the miscreants left the area. But in that incident Kanu Naha’s elder brother’s wife’s health seriously fell and was hospitalized.

21-no ward candidates home Debashish Dhar’s home was attacked since many days and in phone threats were given. 

Opposition candidates are frightened due to night hours attacks in their houses, whereas police’s role have been zero to safeguard the candidates.
