In Tripura's history such arrest never happened before BJP era that a person was arrested just because he has posted a news item in facebook. Lawyers said, police not only illegally arrested Dipak Debnath but the FIR was lodged much later than the arrest.
"After arresting Dipak Debnath, he was forwarded under 505 section, Act-2. But as we saw in the FIR there was no mention about any proper complaint on the basis of which a person can be arrested. "The arrest timing was most interesting. He was arrested at night 2 am and the FIR was lodged at 6.30 am today morning and we have told the court regarding this. Police said that Dipak was given notice under Section : 41 (A) but very hurriedly he was arrested and no notice in reality was served. It is a violation of the law", the lawyers of Dipak Debnath said.
The lawyer said that neither any notice nor any proper reason could be given by police behind his arrest.
