Calling Biplab Deb's ruling an "AUTOCRACY" not "Democracy", Saumen Sarkar said, the way Biplab Deb and his police are making decisions, violating constitutional rights, attacking media without bothering for law and court, there is no need of justice system then, as "Biplab Deb himself is High Court and Supreme Court and thinks himself overall the authority and superior to the constitution".

Being asked by Hallabol journalist from Tripura, why has Saumen Sarkar lodged FIR against SP West and Cyber Cell Dy SP under Section 191, 200, 500, 501, Sarkar replied, "The way attacks upon media are going on in Tripura it does not match with democracy. Because it’s impossible for raising voice by other media based in Tripura, so I am raising voice from behalf of all Editors"

I have appointed my lawyer Raghunath Mukharjee to represent me, but instead of following law, Biplab Deb’s police force are 24 hours running mafia-raj. Before the election, day night BJP leaders used to come in my office, but I never imagined this Party after forming a Govt will be indulged in such kind of attacks upon the fourth-pillar-of-democracy”, he said.

On yesterday also I came across in news that how Mrinalini ENN channel (a local TV channel) was closed by Biplab Deb’s Govt. This is not democracy, this is autocracy and autocracy is always run by dictators. There is no difference between Saddam Hussein and Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb", Saumen Sarkar said.

"Instead of cooperating with media and learning how to develop the state with news input, Biplab Deb using his police force to spot who is writing against the Govt and teaching how to attack the media".

Saumen Sarkar also revealed how his 82 years old father and 76 years old mother were harassed by police multiple times who has no link with the website. 

"East Agartala PS OC-Debasish Saha and SDPO Suman Majumder have asked my parents how I am running the media from America, whereas they have no link with my website and I am living in US since 20 years. They (Police) are going without any paper, any notice but showing the faces, threatening", Saumen Sarkar told Hallbol channel.

"I am under Govt outrage because before the election they (BJP) thought like other media, we will tolerate everything, but Tripurainfoway is run by American domain and it’s totally non-profitable media. Thus, I have that freedom to write under US Govt, whereas if other channels broadcast like my channel either the Editor will be attacked and his family will be targeted at home by mafia or killed, which already held in Tripura earlier", he added.

"My photographers are no more working. Day after day police attacked my Agartala office and asked who writes in Tripurainfoway.com ? SPO Suman Majumder, OC-Debasish Saha said they are instructed by Additional DGP Rajiv Singh for such activities", Sarkar told Hallabol anchor. 

"SP West Ajit Pratap Singh being a Govt servant brought false allegation against my website and me and wrote to the American domain complaining I am involved in criminal activities and I extort people by my website, which have no base. More interestingly, police is trying to be the decision maker without bothering for law and the court. Who is police to decide who is guilty who is not ? Is police the judge to consider me as criminal ? How SP can call me a criminal without court order ? Thus, I have filed FIR and going to court of law to prove Tripura’s West District SP Ajit Pratap is a criminal", he said.

"If Court decides that I am a guilty then only it will be decided by court what have to do, but by not abiding the court they Biplab Beb is using his police machinery to torture, harass media houses. The style of Tripura police is no way different that Battala, Gol Bazar mafia and entering houses of journalists, calling photographers in police station and threatening. If police can make such decision, what is the necessity of court and judiciary then ? Under Biplab Deb, there is no need of judiciary as he himself is the High Court and Supreme Court both and his Police are the decision makers. I myself trained Tripura Police in 2013-14 and what I want to tell Tripura Police that I will prove that the SP-West by misusing Govt machinery is nothing but a Criminal".

Saumen Sarkar further mentioned, "If Biplab Deb is living in the Murkho-Rajyo (Fools Paradise) thinking that he will be Chief Minister for his whole life, then he is wrong. Such political posts like CM's post are temporary'. 

India fell three places in the international press freedom rankings in April last year. The ranking, based on an index of press freedom report by the global media watchdog Reporters Without Borders, said journalists were less free under the Narendra Modi government.
