Agartala, Sept 29 (TIWN): The biggest festival Durga puja is just knocking at the door. To maintain a peaceful atmosphere during puja days in Agartala, cops prepared a foolproof security, Superintended of Police (SP), Wesr district- Bijay Kumar Nag told TIWN over telephone today.
According to SP, as many as 18 watch towers have been established to keep close scrutiny to avoid any untoward incidents during puja days.
“To keep surveillance on the movement of public and vehicles, a total of 16 CCTV cameras have been installed in the most crowded places of the city while as many as 14 police assistance booths have been unbolted. Besides, Dog Squads and Bomb Disposal Squads have been kept ready to meet any circumstances during puja days”, said SP.
As a part of tight security, four drop gates have already been activated to keep the anti-social elements at bay, said Nag. Surprise checking on vehicles, hotels and other key locations has already got underway in the capital- Agartala which will host maximum puja pandals, he said.
SP Nag also confirmed that there will be no dearth of police personnel in the festival time at Agartala. Over 3000 security personnel including jawans of Tripura State Rifles, Tripura Police and woman constables of Tripura Police would be mobilized to maintain law and order in puja days. The police department is determined to ensure foolproof security as there is no specific threat following Durga puja, he added.
Following Durga Puja, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has been conducting different drives to make the city clean in puja days. Altogether 65 AMC vehicles have been moving out to clean the fulfilled dustbins with garbage, said a source inside AMC.
Almost all the puja committees and big budget clubs are prepared to hit the target. The puja authorities have prepared a guideline for immersion to avoid any kind of untoward incident.
